6 easy steps to help you with your condo move
Maybe you’re an empty nester moving into a condo for the first time, like my wife and I were back in 2014. Or maybe you’re a busy doctor, business owner or someone who is craving the condo lifestyle. These 6 easy steps will help you with your condo move.
1. Book the elevator as soon as you know your moving date
Contact the building manager to book the elevator for your move day.
There are specific hours that you are available for booking, your building manager can let you know what the hours are.
2. Let the movers know where the loading zone is ahead of time
Let your movers know where they can park, access the moving room and unload.
3. Know where your parking spot is
Things get really exciting and maybe a bit crazy on moving day, you might forget where your parking spot is located. Have your parking spot number handy as well as what street you enter on. Some condo buildings have two parking garages with access from different streets.
4. Key FOB access
Once you get your keys test out that your key FOB(s) open all of the doors that you need access to;
Front entrance
Side entrance
Parking garage
Storage
Amenities
5. Get your name on the building entry system
Once you move in contact your building manager to get your name on the building entry board.
If you have a cell phone and a home phone it’s a good idea to get your cell phone programmed into the board that way if you ever forget your keys you can let yourself in using your cell phone.
6. Get yourself registered on the condo website
Most condos have private websites that are used to find out the latest condo news and book amenities etc. Either the building manager or property manager should be able to give you information to get you registered to use the website.
